It is with great sadness of the passing of Geoffrey Stewart Schaper on Thursday 19th July. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends and work colleagues as well as by the Covies. He was taken too quickly and our only comfort is, he was at peace when he passed.
Geoff was a Vice President of the LCCC and had a great love for the club and of course, the players.
Geoff is one of the many shinning bright stars in the sky, and when we look to the stars on a bright night, we shall remember him and Geoff will be looking down at us smiling. Blessings to our beloved Geoff Schaper. We shall remember you as a fine cricketer, sportsman and dear friend. Our love to you always
A farewell event will be held in Sydney on Friday 10th August 4pm. At 4pm anyone who wants to attend can come to Kingsford Smith Oval, Longueville where close friends and cricket colleagues will gather to say a few informal words and leave half of his ashes on the cricket ground that gave him such great joy in life. Then at 5pm we will be hosting a farewell get together at Lane Cove Bowling Club until around 8pm. Light catering and snags will be available.
Chris Fry, Johnny Lloyd and Phil Dunn will all say a few words to those gathered at the Bowling Club and anyone else who wants to share a story will be invited to join in. His parents, sister, wife and kids will be attending. Let’s remember the great bloke he was, share a tale and come together for a send-off worthy of how we all felt about him.
RSVP’s to email@example.com for catering purposes and please email any photos you have to Amanda.
